Certified Global Business Professional Credential Awarded to Ivette Rios

Chattanooga, TN —  Ivette Rios has been awarded the Certified Global Business Professional credential (CGBP) by NASBITE International. Rios, a two-year full time employee of Chattanooga State Community College with six years experience in the global business industry is employed as a small business specialist at the Tennessee Small Business Development Center.

Established in 1988, NASBITE (National Association of Small Business International Trade Educators) is an educational and professional association committed to promoting international trade through conferences, newsletters and its coveted CGBP credential. More than 1,500 candidates have received this credential that is recognized internationally.

The CGBP credential provides a benchmark for competency in global commerce and demonstrates an individual’s ability to conduct global business at the professional level required in today’s competitive environment. When the CGBP credential is awarded, it establishes a person’s competency in four domains: global business management, global marketing, supply chain management, and trade finance.

Says Rios, “I am excited to be counseling businesses on how to go global and expand internationally. With the NEI (National Export Initiative), the U.S. is committed to providing small businesses with the support and guidance to grow their business internationally, and I am glad to be a part of this mission.”

Ms. Rios was born in the northern part of Mexico and grew up in Arizona where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in International Relations from the University of Arizona. She is bicultural and fluent in Spanish, French, and English. Employed by a major carpet manufacturer for more than five years, Ms. Rios conducted international business, covering the northern Latin America countries. As a business partner with a media-consulting firm for more than 11 years, she served as a marketing and sales manager for the northwest Georgia region.
